Wayside Chapel, southern Alberta Canada

The "Back to God" Chapel was built with the
aid of the Dutch Reformed Church in southern Alberta at Passburg.
Local Dutch immigrants not only provided travellers with a place to
refresh their spirits, but through this chapel, strong family
memories were also created. The building had been dedicated in
1960 (July 2, 1960). Around that time, it held a working juke box
which played, "The Old Rugged Cross" and seeds of family memories
were planted. Twenty years later, as depicted in this
early 80s photo, the fourteen-seat church had its windows boarded
up. This was likely a step to protect the building in a move
to resituate the building along the number three highway in
Bellevue where it presents more as a tourist
attraction than a place of respite.
