| List
servers are a popular means of communication and
discussion with clients and groups associated with Blue Grama Publications.
Messages are sent and delivered using Internet E-mail, so anyone with access
to an e-mail account can use these services. Topics range from those of
general interest to highly specific areas of research, practice, education
and discussion. A number of "closed" mailing lists
assist BGP clients with administrational duties. For the most part,
these lists have specified posters to eliminate spam. Such lists can
be setup to include posting by members only or by specified email addresses.
With this type of list, unauthorized posting is bounced and email is sent to
the list administrator regarding the unauthorized post.
If you are a Lethbridge community organization, contact
BGP to arrange for a membership ListServe whereby only your organization's
members can post. (There is a Yearly service fee, free if your
organization is a subhost on yLethbridge.com)
If your need for a ListServe is temporary such as a need
to organize and disseminate election materials, or project events, BGP Corp.
can help facilitate with the administration of your event.
Blue Grama Publications Corp. also manages and
administrates open-for-subscription, closed-for-posting lists:
BGP
for anyone interested in titles as they are being published and added to the
catalog of titles available through BGP Corp. (example, libraries,
reading organizers, media)

How to use list servers
(Hosted Elsewhere) Most list servers depend on special software
that allows list participants to manage their subscriptions automatically.
To subscribe or unsubscribe, you send an e-mail message to a ListProc or
LISTSERV program. The program then adds your name to its mailing list.
Sending messages to the list
To send messages to the people who subscribe to a list, you send messages
to the network's e-mail address, not to the
LISTSERV or ListProc program. For example, to send a message to everyone
who subscribes to the BGP list, you would address the message to
BGP@BLUEGRAMAPUBLICATIONS.COM
LISTSERV and ListProc programs respond to various commands besides
"subscribe" or "unsubscribe". To get a list of the commands for
LISTSERV or ListProc, address a one-word message to the program. The
message should say only "help".
Sending messages to individual list members
Be careful if you wish to send a message to one individual on the list.
Your reply might be addressed to the individual or the list; a setting by
the list manager. Always check the "To:" field on your reply when you
start composing it.
Some email programs allow you to control the "Reply-to" field in the
email messages you send. If your mailing list allows this, the "Reply-to:"
is a good way to ensure that replies to your messages are sent directly to
your account.
