To All Students of Life:
from Dr. Pamela S. Hinds
Coordinator of Nursing Research and Assoc. Director of Research for Behavioral
Medicine.
Mr. Allan Wilson — author, classroom instructor, husband, father, observer
and participant in life lessons — guides us with words of sincerity to seek out
our worth. His guidance comes with the assurance that we will not be
disappointed in what we ultimately find. In eight, briefly-stated lessons, we
are guided to our worth or what Mr. Wilson refers to as our 'true excellence'
which is 'the best place in the universe'. We can do a part of one lesson or all
of the eight lessons and we can do a part of all lessons one time or several
times. No matter how we use the lessons, we will find our worth and our best
place in the universe. Along the way, we will learn how to know when people care
about us but cannot help us in our search for our own worth because of their own
struggles. Along the way, we will also learn which of our own habits we will
need to alter in order to get to that best place. But along the way, we will
definitely learn how to find excellence in our relationship with our self, with
others, and with ideas. My belief is that we will each find a sense of worth, a
definition of excellence, and a best place in the universe that is unique to
each of us. Although those will be unique, the lessons offered by Mr. Wilson
will also yield a sense of respectful connectedness with others. So although we
will not be at the same best place, we will have great regard for each others'
best place.
